• Doptelet (generic name: avatrombopag) is a prescription medicine that stimulates platelet production by activating the thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor. It is indicated for:

  • Treatment of thrombocytopenia in adults with chronic liver disease who are scheduled to undergo a medical or dental procedure.

  • Treatment of chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in adults who have not adequately responded to previous treatments such as corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or splenectomy.

  Unlike some other TPO receptor agonists, Doptelet is taken orally with food and does not require dietary restrictions related to polyvalent cations. By increasing platelet counts, it helps reduce the risk of bleeding and the need for platelet transfusions.
